This document sets out our policy with regard to the privacy of the users of our web-based information facilities. Personal information for the purposes of this document is information that can identify an individual such as name, address, contact details.
We do not as a general rule collect personal information about you when you visit our site. You may register as a member or a service provider and volunteer information by completing the registration forms. You may also complete a feedback form where information is collected in order to reply to specific queries you may wish to make. For general web browsing no personal information is revealed to us. Certain information in relation to web usage is revealed via our internet service provider who records some of the following data. The information we receive depends upon what you do when visiting our site.

- The date and time you access our site.
- The pages you have accessed and the documents downloaded.
- The previous Internet address from which you linked directly to our site.

This information is used to allow us improve the information we are supplying to our users, find out how many people are visiting our sites and for statistical purposes. Some of the above information is used to create summary statistics which allow us to assess the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, discover what information is most and least used, inform us on future design and layout specifications, and help us make our site more user friendly.
The member’s area provides for collection of personal information by teenspace. This information is for the purposes of the website teenspace and for the owners of Teenspace (Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs). This information is given to Teenspace by completing the registration form on the website. The information we have requested is for the purposes of keeping members informed about Teenspace and any other information Teenspace feels is relevant to its members.
We will use this information to pass on only information we believe to be relevant to members via e-mail or text message. To ensure this relevance we will use the information volunteered by people registering, such as location, gender and age.
Teenspace will not pass this personal information on to any third party without the express permission of the person to whom the information pertains. Under section 4 of the Data Protections Act a person has a right to be given a copy of his/her personal data. Under section 6 of the Acts, a person has a right to have his/her personal data corrected, if inaccurate, or erased, if there is not a legitimate reason for the retention of this data. There is no fee for this. NYCI shall comply within 40 calendar days of the receipt of such a request.
Members can choose to delete their registration as memberes by selecting that option on the website.
Where our sites have links to other sites, teenspace is not responsible for the content, copyright or privacy policies of these web sites.

Publishing on Teenspace
Teenspace was developed so that service providers can publish information about their services, events facilities, articles and generally any information about recreation services for young people aged 10 - 18. It is important to remember that any information disclosed for teenspace becomes public information.
You are not permitted to use any obscene, pornographic, libellous, or illegal words or images for publication on teenspace. While teenspace is the publisher of content submitted by service providers for the website, it accepts no liability relating to the communications posted, whether or not arising under the laws of copyright, libel, privacy, data protection, obscenity or otherwise.
Under section 2(1)(a) of the Data Protection Act requires that personal data "shall have been obtained, and the data shall be processed, fairly ". When dealing with personal data relating to schoolchildren, "fairness" requires that the clear and informed consent of parents or guardians must be obtained before any use is made of the children’s data for Teenspace.
Data includes photographs (where the individual is clearly identifiable) and any other forms of data that may be published on the website. To comply with the acts it is recommended that you inform the individual that you are taking their photograph, the identity of the collecting organisation and the purpose or future purposes it may be used for. A written consent from the parents/guardians of children must be received/submitted to Teenspace before the pictures are published. It is the responsibility of the service provider to ensure that any necessary consent for publication is received in advance of submission of data for publication.
